| As a donor to non-profit organizations, how can I see that my donation is being spent and used effectively to benefit the disabled? The Sneha Project proposes an integrated cell phone and website experience which allows donors who make contributions to non-profit organizations to track their donations. Along with seeing how their contributions have positively impacted other | people’s lives, non-profit organizations have the ability to provide some transparency and highlight areas of need that still need contribution from donors. This level of transparency will allow donors to make their donation more specific and potentially encourage further contributions. This project was originally created as an entry for the USID Forum Nokia Design Challenge 2009. |
PROJECT MEDIA STRATEGY: DEFINING HOW THE EXPERIENCE WORKS
Overview Of Concept
| I want to make a donation: A person(s) decides to donate to one or multiple non-profits. Once a contribution has been made, they are automatically logged in as a donor and an online account is set up for them. Information regarding how their donation was spent and/or used is entered into this account for the donor to access. |
I want to track my donation: The account created for the donor to track their donation can be accessed via cell phone application and website. Once online in their account, the donor can see how their money is being spent as well as discover “donation opportunities” which are emerging areas of need within the organization that need contribution. |

CASE STUDY: SNEHA
| Sneha is an NGO based in rural India that takes in kids with disabilities, orphans who lost their parents to AIDS, and many others in need. Their goal is to house, feed, educate, and help train their residents in a particular craft which will | empower them to be independent and find employment once they leave. I chose Sneha as the subject for the case study because I truly believe in this organization and the good they are doing for the Indian community. |
